Comparing the storyboard to the film

This the storyboard for the last scene in Se7en. Comparing this to the actual end of the film we can see that a few of the shots are different for example in the finished film Somerset never points his gun at Dec. Mills. There is also no frame of Dec. Mills’ wife when he pulls the trigger like there is in the finished film. However in terms of story and dialogue the ending is relatively the same. Due to the fact that Mills still kills John Doe, and that Somerset tries to stop.

This tells us that most films will change most of the shots while filming depending on what is happening that day, and the storyboard is only really meant as a guideline and not something to be followed very close to.
