Learning about Claude Levi-Strauss narrative theory

On Monday we learned about a different narrative theory that was made by Claude Levi-Strauss. His theory was that “all drama has a conflict.” He also believed in binary opposition, for example good vs evil. An example of this would be Luke vs Darth Vader. The reason for learning this is that this will help us to come up with our own narratives in case we are in a creative block. It will also related to when we learned about todorov theory giving us different options for when we are coming up for a storyline when making our short films and projects.

An example of this binary opposition would be the past and present, this could be the characters from Looper. Both being the same character only one being the young version and the other being the present and old.

Another example of this binary opposition would be the Ugly and the handsome, this could be Tyler Durden and the Narrator. This is because of the fact that the Narrator has made the image in his head of what he inspires to be, Tyler Durden.
